The Crimson spreads, meaning it slowly converts adjacent tiles to their Crimson variants. Chasms consist of Crimstone, which can be blown up by explosives, mined with a Nightmare/ Deathbringer Pickaxe or higher, or purified to Stone by using Purification Powder. Crimson Altars generally line the chasm's passages, appearing inside and around it. Every chasm has an entrance on the surface and leads to a large, circular cavity, then branches off into small "fingers" which end with a Crimson Heart. The Crimson contains multiple chasms, extensions of the biome into the underground. Crimson enemies tend to have slightly higher stats, such as health, defense, and damage. The tools, weapons, and armor obtained via Crimson material generally have minor advantages over those obtained via Corruption materials however, Corruption tools are slightly faster. Both contain similar hazards and feature their own unique enemies, items, and blocks. Every world will contain one of the two generated randomly except for special seeds (each with a 50% chance of occurring) or chosen by the player upon world creation ( only after the Wall of Flesh has been defeated in any world). However, the Pearlstone present can still produce small fragments of Hallow biome, which can show pink water and enrage Plantera.The Crimson is an evil biome with a fleshy infection, red gore theme, in contrast to the dark purple wasteland theme of its counterpart, the Corruption. Due to the Jungle being mostly Mud, this can lead to there not being enough Hallow blocks present to consistently spawn the biome's enemies. Again, on beginning Hardmode the Hallow can overlay the Jungle, and this will convert stone but not Jungle grass.Based on the source code, the Dryad considers the Hallow to be "good", as opposed to the Corruption or Crimson, which she considers "bad." However, she does not consider the world to be "pure" until all three are eradicated.The Hallow can spread to Grass and Flower Walls.The Corruption or Crimson is unable to overlap the Hallow.However, oddly, Lightning Bugs will still spawn during night.Making an artificial Hallow biome in a pre-Hardmode world (for example via Blue Solution) will change the background and music, though no Hallow enemies will spawn.In Hardmode, all enemies in the Hallow have a chance of dropping a Hallowed Key.An artificial Hallow biome requires at least 125 / 100 Hallowed blocks, such as Hallowed grass, Pearlstone, Pearlsand, or Pink Ice.The Dryad can tell the player the percentage of Hallow and Corruption/Crimson in the world.įor more information, see NPC happiness. The Hallow, unlike Crimson and Corruption, cannot spread through mud areas such as found in Jungles or Glowing Mushroom biomes. See below or the Biome spread page for more details. Hallow can also be seeded in new areas via Hallowed Seeds, Holy Water, or Blue Solution. Once generated, Hallow spreads in a manner similar to the evil biomes Pearlstone, Pearlsand, and dirt blocks growing Hallowed grass will spread Hallow to neighboring blocks, causing Hallow enemies to spawn over ever-larger areas. If areas of Jungle or Glowing Mushroom biome are included in the conversion area, Stone will be converted, but grass on Mud Blocks will be unaffected. This initial conversion can replace preexisting sections of the world's " evil biome" ( Corruption or Crimson). When the Wall of Flesh is defeated for the first time and the world converts to Hardmode, a diagonal stripe of Hallow biome extending from the surface to the bottom of the world will be generated, converting all applicable tiles to their Hallowed variant. The Hallow does not exist in newly-generated worlds. The Underground Hallow biome can be found directly beneath a naturally-generated Hallow biome. It is characterized by pastel-colored fairytale graphics, with cyan-colored grass, multicolored trees, and a large rainbow in the background, as well as similarly whimsical-looking (though dangerous) enemies.
